Von einem, der auszog, Schauspieler zu werden - und bei den Großeltern einzieht Die Kindheit auf dem Gelände einer riesigen Psychiatrie und das Austauschjahr in Amerika liegen hinter ihm, die Schulzeit hat er überstanden, als vor dem Antritt des Zivildienstes das Unerwartete geschieht: Joachim wird auf der Schauspielschule in München angenommen und zieht zu seinen Großeltern in die großbürgerliche Villa in Nymphenburg. Er wird zum Wanderer zwischen den Welten. Seine Großmutter war selbst Schauspielerin und ist eine schillernde Diva, sein Großvater ist emeritierter Philosophieprofessor, eine strenge und ehrwürdige Erscheinung. Ihre Tage sind durch abenteuerliche Rituale strukturiert, bei denen Alkohol eine wesentliche Rolle spielt. Tagsüber wird Joachim an der Schauspielschule systematisch in seine Einzelteile zerlegt, abends ertränkt er seine Verwirrung auf dem opulenten Sofa in Rotwein und anderen Getränken. Aus dem Kontrast zwischen großelterlichem Irrsinn und ausbildungsbedingtem Ich-Zerfall entstehen die den Erzähler völlig überfordernden Ereignisse - und gleichzeitig entgeht ihm nicht, dass auch die Großeltern gegen eine große Leere ankämpfen, während er auf der Bühne sein Innerstes nach außen kehren soll und dabei oft grandios versagt. Joachim Meyerhoff hat seine Kunst, Komik und Tragik miteinander zu verbinden, noch verfeinert. Sein Held nimmt sich und seine Umwelt immer genauer wahr und erkennt überall Risse, Sprünge, Lücken. Ein fulminantes Lesevergnügen!
